Hope Consortium is an Abu Dhabi-based public-private partnership established to provide a comprehensive supply chain solution for the global distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. Launched in November 2020 and spearheaded by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, the consortium includes key partners such as Etihad Cargo, Abu Dhabi Ports, Rafed, and Switzerland’s SkyCell, along with major international freight forwarders like Agility, Aramex, Hellmann, and Kuehne + Nagel. This collaboration leverages extensive expertise and infrastructure to transport and store billions of vaccine doses under strict cold and ultra-cold conditions, serving over 170 countries worldwide.

The consortium’s focus lies in cold chain logistics, specifically the transportation, storage, handling, and last-mile delivery of temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical supplies, including vaccines. Abu Dhabi Ports plays a vital role by providing end-to-end logistics support, including access to one of the region’s largest temperature-controlled warehouses located in KIZAD, capable of storing over 70 million vaccine doses at temperatures ranging from 2°C to -80°C. With innovative technology such as the blockchain-enabled mUnity platform, the Hope Consortium ensures full traceability and integrity of vaccine shipments from manufacturers to final medical facilities.

Since its inception, the Hope Consortium has quickly become a critical global logistics player by efficiently handling millions of COVID-19 vaccine doses. Its integration of major global logistics players extends the consortium’s reach and capability, positioning it as a leading platform for vaccine distribution worldwide.
