Company Overview

Dubai Internet City (DIC) is a premier free‑zone technology and innovation hub established by the Government of Dubai in 1999 and launched in 2000. As part of TECOM Group, it was created to attract global ICT firms and startups by offering 100% foreign ownership, a 50‑year tax exemption, and streamlined one‑stop business setup services.

Today, Dubai Internet City is home to over 4,000 companies, including global giants like Microsoft, Google, IBM, Oracle, SAP, and Facebook, as well as emerging regional startups. The ecosystem employs more than 31,000 professionals, representing talent from over 150 countries.

Over the last 15 years, DIC has added AED 100 billion (approx. USD 27 billion) to Dubai’s GDP by generating 65% of the emirate’s ICT sector output. It has driven 125,000 direct and indirect jobs and invested around AED 1.6 billion in training and talent development.

DIC actively supports tech innovation and startups via its in5 incubator, hosting 490 active startups that collectively raised AED 8 billion in funding—including unicorns like Careem and Souq. Since 2021, it has hosted more than 800 community events to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange.

With its blend of economic incentives, global connectivity, and innovation-driven infrastructure, Dubai Internet City remains a cornerstone of the UAE’s digital transformation and knowledge economy strategy.
