Dubai Metro Rail is a key part of Dubai’s public transportation system, managed by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). It is the first urban rail transit system in the Arabian Peninsula and boasts the world’s longest fully automated driverless train network, covering 75 kilometers with 49 stations on its Red and Green lines. Since its launch in 2009, it has served over 200 million passengers annually, maintaining a punctuality rate of 99.9%. The metro features automated operations with driverless trains that can reach speeds of up to 90 km/h, operating up to 50 trains during peak hours. It offers specialized cabins, including Gold-class and women-and-children sections, and ensures accessibility with air-conditioned stations and luggage space for travelers. The Route 2020 expansion added 15 kilometers and 7 stations, enhancing connectivity, including a direct link to the Expo 2020 site. The Nol Card system facilitates automated fare collection across Dubai’s public transport network.
